Polk's SurroundBar Speaker Lineup

Polk Audio has added two products to its SurroundBar integrated home theater speakers line, each designed to complement today’s ultra-thin TV displays.

“Consumers are looking for components that blend in, but want performance that stands out,” Polk Audio product line manager Al Baron said. “Our new SurroundBar models are a perfect match for today’s increasingly slim HDTVs, with cabinet depths that are even flatter than a typical plasma display. The new form factor ensures an ideal blend of design aesthetics with any flat-screen TV, whether the SurroundBar is mounted on a wall or on a shelf.”

The first new SurroundBar model to ship will be the SurroundBar 3000 Instant Home Theater ($349), which will be available in March. The SurroundBar 3000 is a powered two-way system 31-inch long speaker that offers 100 watts of direct midrange and treble energy, and 80 watts of bass through its included 6.5-inch wireless subwoofer.

An optical digital connection mates the system to the HDTV, providing a single-step hookup.

The step-up model SurroundBar model is the new four-way, 35-inch long SurroundBar 6000SDA Instant Home Theater ($499), which features Polk’s patented SDA surround processing from a cabinet that is less than two inches deep.

The wireless seven-inch wireless subwoofer provides 120 watts of bass response. The SurroundBar 6000SDA will ship in June.
